What the Tay Ringing Group has been up to recently

Members of the Tay Ringing Group are always active throughout every season in the year with various projects from winter goose catches, wader studies along our coastal areas and in the estuaries of the Tay and Eden, nest box surveys, raptor ringing and monitoring to farmland and woodland passerine studies, to name but a few. The articles within this section of the website will give you an insight into some of these studies which keep us busy.

Colour ringed starling

Please keep your eyes peeled for colour-ringed starlings. Ben Hershell has ringed over 300 this year and so far the few sightings have all been from north of Montrose, mainly by one diligent Angus and Dundee Bird Club member in St. Cyrus (right metal over colour, left colour over colour). If you spot any of of these birds please contact Ben at benherschell@hotmail.com
